Summary

The Facilities Technician/Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting both the Facilities and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Departments by ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, functional, and compliant with relevant regulations. This position is responsible for overseeing a broad range of administrative duties, janitorial operations, and maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Coordinator/Technician will execute a diverse array of facility-related responsibilities, contributing to the seamless operation and upkeep of the workplace environment.

The Facilities Technician/Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the facility. In the technician capacity, this role ensures continuous operation by identifying and repairing issues promptly, preventing escalation and minimizing disruption. Responsibilities include performing a broad range of maintenance and repair tasks across the facility.

In the coordinator capacity, the role serves as the primary point of contact for janitorial operations, overseeing custodial staff or contractors and ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of the facility. Duties include managing the inventory and procurement of cleaning supplies and materials and ensuring efficient distribution and storage. Additionally, the position provides essential support to the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Department by helping maintain compliance with all relevant federal, local, and corporate regulations. Work assignments are dynamic and depend on the immediate needs of the facility and grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Conduct general building maintenance and repair tasks—including electrical, plumbing, and light construction—as assigned or requested, to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and in optimal condition.
  • Perform repairs on malfunctioning equipment and damaged structural components throughout the facility, including door and wall restoration, and address plumbing issues such as leaks or breakages to prevent water damage and ensure full functionality of water fixtures.
  • Repaint building surfaces as needed to maintain a clean and professional appearance, addressing areas where paint has become faded, chipped, or worn over time.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to detect potential issues and carry out a range of routine maintenance tasks to ensure ongoing functionality and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and oversee the employee smock distribution and maintenance process, ensuring availability, cleanliness, and proper inventory control in accordance with company protocols.
  • Overseeing the sanitation of designated areas within the facility to ensure adherence to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Coordinates and prepares office workstations for new employee onboarding and internal workstation relocations to ensure a seamless transition and operational readiness.
  • Manage and monitor inventory levels of facility supplies and safety equipment to ensure availability and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Facilitate company events and meetings by coordinating pre-event setups and post-event teardowns, ensuring seamless execution and efficient service throughout all stages of the event.
  • Provides support for catering services, including coordination with the cafeteria and external vendors to ensure timely and professional food service delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively address and resolve facilities-related matters with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative functions, including maintaining records, managing documentation, and facilitating communication with internal departments, contractors, and external vendors.
  • Execute assigned daily, weekly, and monthly Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) tasks, including routine inspections of eyewash stations, first aid cabinets, and hazardous waste storage areas to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate and execute daily hazardous waste collection activities, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and disposal in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of the facility's waste management program and contribute to sustainability initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively identify and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned or as operational needs arise, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to organizational support.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to safety concerns and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to established health and safety protocols.

Education and/or Experience

Vocational or Technical Certificate in related field and at a minimum of 5-10 years of directly related experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a directly related field. Basic training in plumbing, drywall, electrical wiring, flooring, painting, and equipment maintenance.
