Position Summary

The Facilities Technician ensures optimal performance of critical systems, including water purification and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, supporting Empower’s mission of providing affordable, innovative medications. This role manages preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and upholding safety and regulatory standards for seamless facility operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains and repairs building systems, including water purification, water for injection, pure steam, and HVAC equipment like chillers and air compressors.
  • Conducts daily preventive and reactive maintenance, supporting manufacturing by assisting with machinery repairs and improvements.
  • Supports cleanroom and lab environments by developing maintenance schedules, performing inspections, and servicing work orders with accurate documentation.
  • Manages inventory, orders parts and tools, conducts physical inventories, and logs equipment history in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds to emergency calls, inspects repair quality, leads projects, and ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliant safety standards.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Requires experience in equipment maintenance for building and production, preferably in pharmaceutical or healthcare settings, with knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC systems, boilers, and chillers, as well as qualifications for entering International Organization for Standardization classified cleanrooms.
  • Must be an organized self-starter with advanced problem-solving skills, experience with CMMS, Microsoft Office 365, and the ability to use tools, read schematics, and research technical documents.
