Pay Range:

  • $34.00 to $40.00/ hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Food Safety: Always performs tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe work practices.
    • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free).
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks on facility equipment and systems including:
    • HVAC
    • AC Unites
    • Refrigeration Equipment
    • Boilers
    • Air Compressors
    • Water Chillers
    • Silos
    • Water Heaters
    • Condenser/ Coils-Freezer
    • Sump Pump
    • Production machinery
    • Dock Door Maintenance
    • Man doors
    • Air Curtains
    • Grease Traps and Drains
  • Responsible for performing repairs or executing work orders to ensure compliance with SQF Food Safety Standards such as:
    • Repairing plant floors as needed.
    • Paint machine gear motors as needed.
    • Paint walls, frames, platforms, air tanks, safety rails, support beams, exhaust fans inlets, overhead fixtures as needed.
    • Repair/replace roll up doors, curtains, repair wash stations and sinks.
    • Repair/replace ceiling foil, ceiling panels, light covers as needed.
    • Replace all building burnout light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
    • Replace any damaged machine, Plexi-glass guards, or windows.
    • Repair/replace exhaust screens as needed.
    • Install catch pans under equipment and machinery as instructed by QA Dept.
    • List not complete and subject to change.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to support uninterrupted production schedules.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory.
  • Adhere to health and safety and GMP guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the implementation of facility improvement projects and upgrades.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives where possible.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, or related fields preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Facilities Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a food manufacturing environment: including prior work experience in building maintenance, such as air compressors, HVAC, boilers and building repairs etc.
  • Experience supporting a GMP facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies as needed.
  • Ability to operate a computer to support and record documentation in our computer maintenance management system.
  • The ability to drive a forklift/industrial equipment is required.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Complies with company attendance and punctuality policy.
  • Fulfills essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Adheres to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
  • Must be able to enforce, comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity
  • Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment (exposure to rotating and reciprocating parts), mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
  • Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis. In addition to continuing walking and standing on hard surfaces, climbing and descending steps. May also include, driving industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks.
  • Also requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
  • Travel Requirements: less than 5% (example: trainings).
