Job summary

GGP is seeking a Facilities Technician to support the Operations Manager in maintaining building systems at Jordan Creek Town Center (West Des Moines, IA). The role includes preventive maintenance, repairs, and assistance with events while upholding safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. OSHA 10-Hour is a plus; bilingual skills are welcomed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years of building maintenance experience.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings.
• Self-starter able to work independently.
• 2-year Tech School/Trade certificate is a plus.
• OSHA 10-Hour course is a plus.
• Familiar with Microsoft Outlook.
• Bilingual welcome.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systems.
• Operate equipment to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs on interior/exterior areas (painting, drywall, lighting, plumbing, roofing, etc.).
• Maintain inventory systems, records, files, MSDS, supplies, equipment, and tools.
• Repair/modify/move retail merchandising units as needed.
• Assist in setup of events and mall decor installation/removal.
• Perform custodial duties as needed and assist with snow removal when applicable.
• Support safety policies and OSHA standards to promote a safe environment.
• Engage in training to develop safety knowledge and competencies.
• Assist with emergency planning and response with management.
• Some shift work, evenings, weekends, and emergency response required.
• Interact with the public and tenants as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Location: Jordan Creek Town Center - 101 Jordan Creek Parkway, Suite 12518

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager or Manager on Duty with the implementation of safety plans, operating standards and guidelines, troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventative maintenance required to maintain the physical assets of the property.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systems
• Operate a variety of equipment to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and maintain cleanliness of property
• Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, parking lots, sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clears drain stoppages, lighting, flooring, and roof
• Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment, and tools
• Repair, modify, move retail merchandising units as needed
• Assist in the setup of events and install/take-down mall decor
• Perform interior/exterior custodial duties as needed which may include sweeping, vacuuming, steam cleaning, gathering trash, empty trash receptacles; operate compactor; and landscaping
• Assist with snow removal by vehicle and/or by hand (if applicable)
• Embody and support GGP’s Safety, Health, and Environment Policy. Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (including OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.
• Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely
• Assist with emergency planning and response in coordination with management team
• Some shift work, evenings, weekends, and emergency response is required
• Provide assistance and interact with the public and tenants as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Ability to communicate information clearly with management, employees, tenants, and external contacts
• Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings and comprehend instructions
• Self-starter with ability to work independently
• 2-year Tech School Graduate or trade certificate is a plus
• OSHA General Industries 10-Hour course is a plus
• Familiar with, or ability to learn Microsoft Outlook (email)
• Bilingual welcomed
