Job description

Location: Town East Mall, 2063 Town East Mall.

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician assists the Operations Manager or Manager on Duty with the implementation of safety plans, operating standards and guidelines, troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventative maintenance required to maintain the physical assets of the property.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systems.
• Operate equipment to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and maintain property cleanliness.
• Perform maintenance/minor repair activities on interior/exterior areas including painting, drywall, parking lots, sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clearing drain stoppages, lighting, flooring, and roof.
• Assist with maintaining inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment, and tools.
• Repair, modify, move retail merchandising units as needed.
• Assist in the setup of events and install/take‑down mall decor.
• Perform interior/exterior custodial duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, steam cleaning, collecting trash, emptying trash receptacles, operating compactor, and landscaping.
• Assist with snow removal by vehicle and/or by hand (if applicable).
• Support GGP’s Safety, Health, and Environment Policy and comply with OSHA standards.
• Engage in training and continuing education related to safety and work skills.
• Assist with emergency planning and response in coordination with the management team.
• Work some shift hours, evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies.
• Provide assistance and interact with the public and tenants as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Ability to communicate clearly with management, employees, tenants, and external contacts.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, plans, and schematic drawings.
• Self‑starter with ability to work independently.
• 2‑Year Technical School graduation or trade certificate is a plus.
• OSHA General Industries 10‑Hour course is a plus.
• Familiarity with or ability to learn Microsoft Outlook.
• Bilingual language skills welcomed.

Physical Demands

The job requires regularly sitting, handling items with hands, and talking or hearing; frequently standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms; climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, balancing, crouching, or crawling. Frequently lifting up to 50 pounds with occasional lifts of up to 100 pounds. Requires good close, distance, color, peripheral, depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually moderate. Exposure may occur to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
