Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform routine maintenance across our site, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks. You will inspect and repair interior and exterior areas, assist with event setup, and manage work tickets through SpaceX’s system.

  • Experience with engineering and construction principles, methods, and codes.
  • Experience with industrial compressed air systems and maintenance.
  • Experience with carpentry maintenance tasks, including sheetrock/drywall installation/repair, window replacement, cabinet/countertop replacement, painting/texturing, and door/hardware installation.
  • Ability to read instructions and blueprints.
  • Experience with project management software, MS Excel, Word, or other project tracking software.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills - MS Outlook and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including non-technical plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
  • Conduct site-wide maintenance: painting, patching walls, flooring, and carpet replacement.
  • Inspect and repair interior/exterior areas, fixtures, roofing, and lighting.
  • Assist janitorial and hospitality teams with support and event setup/teardown.
  • Manage campus-wide operations and maintenance programs as assigned.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed.
  • Open, track, and resolve electronic work tickets on the custom WO system.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines at all times.

FACILITIES TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform routine building maintenance tasks, including non-technical troubleshooting and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or carpentry requests
  • Conduct site-wide maintenance to our facilities, including painting, patching walls, replacing ceiling/flooring tiles, and carpet
  • Perform inspections and repairs to assigned site interior and exterior areas, including walls, floors, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting
  • Aid janitorial and hospitality staff with general requests for support, including moving furniture, racks/equipment, disposing of garbage using forklifted dumpster bins, and set-up and tear down of special event areas
  • Manage other campus-wide operations and maintenance programs as assigned by facilities management
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when needed
  • Open, track, and resolve electronic work tickets on SpaceX’s custom work order system
  • Adhere to proper safety guidelines at all times
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvements
  • Experience with plumbing systems, backflows, lift stations, sewer machines, and pumps
  • Experience with concrete, forming, and pouring
  • Experience with engineering and construction principles, methods, and codes
  • Experience with industrial compressed air systems and maintenance
  • Experience with carpentry maintenance tasks, including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet/countertop replacement, painting/texturing (interior and exterior), and door/hardware installation
  • Ability to read instructions and blueprints
  • Experience with project management software, MS Excel, Word, or other project tracking software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills - MS Outlook and Teams
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Self-motivated, works well with others and autonomously
  • Safety training and use of forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes & hoists, and fall protection equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime, weekends and holiday as needed
  • Valid driver's license
  • Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
  • Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
  • Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
  • Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day
  • Walk: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day
  • Climb (ladder/stairs): up to 3 hours per day
  • Kneel/Crouch: up to 1 hour per day
  • Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees: up to 3 hours per day
  • Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, using an air purifying respirator, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description. Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm these capabilities, which may include a medical history review.
