A leading company in the technology sector seeks a motivated Facilities Technician for their San Jose office. This entry-level position offers a hands-on opportunity to support the daily operations of a corporate office and light lab environment, ensuring safety and functionality while engaging with employees and vendors.
We are seeking a hands-on and motivated Facilities Technician to join our team in San Jose. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for individuals starting their careers in facilities, maintenance, or workplace operations. As a key contributor to the daily operations of our corporate office and light lab environment, you’ll help ensure the workplace remains safe, clean, functional, and well-organized. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine inspections, performing minor repairs, restocking supplies, coordinating vendor visits, and responding to employee facilities-related requests.
This entry-level position requires basic mechanical aptitude, a proactive mindset, and a strong sense of ownership. You should be comfortable following directions while maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily walkthroughs of the office and lab spaces to check for safety issues, maintenance needs, and cleanliness.
Perform light maintenance and repairs, including replacing lights, unclogging sinks, adjusting furniture, assembling equipment, and hanging whiteboards/artwork.
Support meeting room readiness by checking AV equipment, restocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness.
Restock and monitor consumables (e.g., breakroom supplies, printer paper, office supplies), and ensure supply rooms remain organized.
Serve as a point of contact for basic employee requests related to temperature, lighting, access, or setup.
Escort and assist vendors (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial) during scheduled maintenance or repairs, and report any issues to the Workplace Manager.
Receive and track facilities-related shipments; help manage furniture moves, office reconfigurations, and small event setups.
Maintain safety signage and ensure emergency egress and fire safety equipment are accessible and unobstructed.
Log issues, complete tasks, and communicate status updates through ticketing or tracking systems.
Provide coverage for shipping and receiving, including handling incoming and outgoing shipments and ensuring proper documentation.
Required Qualifications:
0–1+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, office operations, or general labor.
Basic understanding of tools, mechanical equipment, and safe work practices.
Ability to follow written procedures and checklists and work independently with clear direction.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with employees and vendors professionally.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to work on-site in San Jose, CA, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience supporting a corporate office, tech company, or light lab environment.
Familiarity with JIRA or similar facilities ticketing platforms.
Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems.
Facilities-related safety training or other certifications.
Physical Requirements:
Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs, standing or walking for extended periods, and working on ladders or step stools.
