Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support daily operations in a biotech lab in San Diego. You will help maintain HVAC, pumps, electrical, and other facility systems, with a focus on safety and compliance in a regulated environment.

The role requires 2–3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to coordinate with contractors and internal teams. Direct hire, onsite, competitive pay.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of facilities maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building repairs.
• Experience with HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressed air, vacuum systems, or similar facility equipment preferred.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, manufacturing, or other regulated environment is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and work within cGMP requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility inspections and daily equipment/system checks.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of HVAC and chiller systems, vacuum pumps, compressed air, electrical systems, boilers, fume hoods, and other facility utilities.
• Perform minor electrical, plumbing, drywall, and general building repairs.
• Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and escalate as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for maintenance, repairs, calibration, and facility improvements.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and maintain required documentation.
• Order replacement parts and supplies as needed.
• Assist with moving equipment and furniture.
• Communicate planned maintenance, equipment shutdowns, and operational issues to appropriate teams.
• Follow cGMP, EH&S, safety, and facility procedures.
• Participate in emergency/on-call facility support as required.
