Job summary

Family Health Centers of San Diego seeks a Facilities Maintenance worker to perform diverse repairs across multiple health center sites. The role requires the use of hand tools, a valid California driver’s license, and reliable transportation for traveling between locations.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance, along with upkeep of tools and equipment. A strong work ethic and ability to follow English instructions are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in building repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Basic computer literacy to access electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist or perform building maintenance repairs including flooring, drywall, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscape, equipment, concrete, and roofing.
• Assist with miscellaneous repairs and maintenance items such as hanging bulletin boards, pictures and dispensers, moving furniture and other items.
• Complete or assist with unclogging plugged and overflowing toilets and other plumbing fixtures.
• Check for leaks in plumbing, make adjustments where possible, and notify Facilities Director, Facilities Manager, Facilities Supervisor, or Facilities Administrative Assistant when a plumber is required.
• Mop and clean spills, vomit and waste, empty trash cans, and clean up around dumpster areas.
• Responsible for proper usage, maintenance, and storage of Facilities tools and supplies.
• Sweep and clean sidewalks and parking lots as requested.
• Responsible for picking up trash, debris, etc., around the various health center sites (buildings, sidewalks, and parking lots).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Certifications

Must have a reliable truck or utility van and hand tools. Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job. Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.

Experience / Specialized Skills

Experience in building repairs and maintenance. Ability to follow both written and oral instructions in English. Basic computer literacy (use system to manage and schedule appointments, access electronic medical record information). Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.

Salary

We are excited to share that the salary range for this position is: $26.00.
