Job summary

Casa de Amparo is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance worker to manage building and grounds at the San Marcos headquarters. The role involves repairs, cleaning, equipment upkeep, and assisting with donations and supplies as needed.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of facility maintenance experience, basic computer literacy, and a California driver’s license with a clean DMV record. Health exams and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Three to five years facility maintenance experience preferred.
• California driver’s license with clear DMV record to drive company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds and perform repairs using appropriate tools.
• Attend to janitorial needs and maintenance requests on-site.
• Assist with pickup of donations and supplies as needed.
• Repair items, perform light plastering, painting and drywall work.
• Inspect sprinkler, heating and air conditioning systems and report needs.
• Coordinate with vendors and obtain quotes for maintenance tasks.
• Maintain facilities maintenance logs for supervisor review.

GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsible for maintaining Casa de Amparo buildings and grounds in orderly and safe condition. Performs repairs, cleaning, facility set up, moving of donations, furniture and equipment, upkeep of grounds, and other maintenance duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift 50lbs. and climb stairs and ladders.

MAJOR TASKS

• Maintain grounds, using appropriate tools and supplies.


• Utilize maintenance request database.


• Attend to janitorial needs on the premises.


• Assist with pick up of donations and supplies as needed.


• Pick up/purchase supplies as approved by supervisor in response to maintenance requests.


• Repair broken items.


• Light plastering, painting and dry wall repair.


• Clean and repair screens and windows.


• Inspect sprinkler, heating and air conditioning systems and report to supervisor for regular service and repair.


• Implement preventive plan to control insects and rodents.


• Complete vehicle inspections and recommend maintenance and repair.


• Perform walk-thru and propose repair needs to supervisor for approval.


• Maintain required facilities and maintenance logs for supervisor review.


• Communicate with and monitor vendors during on-site visits/work.


• Request quotes as needed from vendors.


• Perform other reasonable tasks as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with maintenance and hand tools for painting, drywall repair, plumbing and general cleaning duties. Three to five years facility maintenance experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Must have a valid California driver’s license and clear DMV driving record to be approved by Casa de Amparo insurance carrier to drive company vehicles. Applicant must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must pass a health exam, drug screen, TB test, Dept. of Justice fingerprints clearance and other job specific requirements.
