Responsibilities

A Facilities Technician is a service employee who, under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, performs maintenance tasks that may be indicated and necessary for maintaining hospital facilities and physical plant in optimum condition for functionality, safety and efficiency. This is accomplished by repairing, installing, maintaining and testing equipment, plumbing, piping, electrical components and fixtures, appliances, etc., and by operating all machinery and equipment in the hospital boiler room and other machinery spaces.

The compensation range for the role is $24.82 -$25.54 hourly (includes general maintenance competency at hire).

Additional compensation*:

  • Painting (+$0.57) (eligible within 6 months)
  • Plumbing (+$1.14) (eligible within 6 - 12 months)
  • Electrical (+$1.42) (eligible within 6 - 12 months)
  • Mechanical Equipment includes HVAC (+$1.71) (eligible within 6 - 12 months)
  • Please note, additional compensation will be determined based on demonstrated skills and competencies. The time required to achieve the necessary level of competency may vary by individual; any timelines provided are approximate. Relevant experience in the skills listed below will be recognized and compensated accordingly upon hire.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent with training in trade or vocational school or combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 4 years’ related experience.
  • Required Certification/Registration: Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Physical Requirements: Physical demands are representative of those that must be met to perform essential job functions. Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, climb, taste smell, etc. Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision ability’s: close and distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lit, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
