Carolina Industrial Staffing is seeking a Facilities Technician in Columbia, SC for a temp-to-hire role. Primary duties include maintenance tasks such as removing chips and baling, pallet removal, and proper material storage.

Responsibilities include general facilities work, coordination with trades, and ongoing preventive maintenance. Requires a high school diploma/GED and at least one year of facilities experience; forklift use and handling of oils/chemicals are expected.

Qualifications

• At least one year of facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience cleaning and maintaining machine equipment, operating compactors and banding machines, operating forklifts, and handling oils and chemicals in a production environment.

• Support emergency and unscheduled repairs of buildings and grounds.

• Support continuous improvement activities (quality, cost, delivery, safety, lean, 5S, root-cause analysis, value-stream).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Facilities Technician

Pay: $20+ (depending on experience)

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician performs general facilities maintenance tasks. Primary responsibilities include removing chips from machines and placing them in proper containers, removing cardboard and baling them, removing pallets, and storing materials in the proper locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general facilities maintenance, construction, & repair tasks in accordance with service, quality, & safety standards.
• Assist with miscellaneous facilities projects, including painting and moving furniture or materials within the facility.
• Provide assistance with emergency and unscheduled repairs of buildings and grounds.
• Work with or assist trades contractors on complete projects or complex repairs.
• Perform or assist with preventive and predictive maintenance on plant facilities and associated equipment.
• Support continuous improvement activities involving quality, cost, delivery, reliability, safety, lean, 5S, root-cause analysis, and value-stream management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• At least one year of facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience cleaning and maintaining machine equipment, operating compactors and banding machines, operating forklifts, and properly handling and storing oils and chemicals associated with a production environment.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and fabrication skills.

• Ability to understand and implement proper lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Understanding of proper GHS labeling.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles.
• Knowledge of, or ability to learn, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of manufacturing facility equipment such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, generators, air-purification systems, and pumps.
• Demonstrated accountability, collaboration, communication, customer focus, and innovation.

Tools & Certifications

• Hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Must be able to pass forklift training provided by the company.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

May be exposed to dangerous machinery, loud noise, and temperature extremes. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted, maneuver in tight spaces, climb ladders and stairs, and work at elevated heights.
