Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, adjust and maintain doors, frames and hardware.
  • Work with hollow-metal, wood, aluminum, glass and fire-rated doors and frames.
  • Install and service hinges, lock sets, exit devices, panic hardware, door closers, flush bolts, coordinators, thresholds and weather stripping.
  • Troubleshoot door alignment, clearances, closing, latching and hardware problems.
  • Inspect fire-door assemblies for proper labels, clearances, closing, latching and hardware operation.
  • Read door schedules, hardware schedules, drawings and manufacture instructions.
  • Replace damaged or worn doors, frames, hinges, closers, locks, exit devices and related hardware.
  • Document door inspections, repairs, deficiencies and completed work.
  • Ability to perform wall layout, frame, and install new sheetrock.
  • Perform repairs on drywall, patching, finishing up to level 5, and painting.
  • Application of high VOC coatings, paints, epoxies and other special application products.
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs to flooring: install or repair carpet, wall cove base, corner guards, VCT flooring, and ceramic tile.
  • Perform basic rough and finished carpentry work.
  • Perform new and repairs on masonry work by laying forms, mixing, pouring, finishing concrete for sidewalks, ramps, curb and gutter, and slabs.
  • Repair or build CMU brick walls.
  • Ability to perform asphalt repairs, including pothole patching, crack sealing, mill and overlay work and full-depth repairs.

Job Description

Under limited supervision and as a member of the general maintenance Multi-Craft team, perform patching and painting, flooring repairs, carpentry work, and masonry work. Also support grounds maintenance, landscaping services, snow removal services, furniture installations, recycling, conference room setups, and other general maintenance duties in support of the general maintenance team.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Repair, install, adjust and maintain commercial doors, frames and hardware.
  • Work with hollow-metal, wood, aluminum, glass and fire-rated doors and frames.
  • Install and service hinges, lock sets, exit devices, panic hardware, door closers, flush bolts, coordinators, thresholds and weather stripping.
  • Troubleshoot door alignment, clearances, closing, latching, locking and hardware problems.
  • Install, repair and adjust fire-doors, frames and hardware.
  • Inspect fire-door assemblies for proper labels, clearances, closing, latching and hardware operation.
  • Perform door and frame modifications, including measuring, drilling, cutting, tapping and reinforcing.
  • Read door schedules, hardware schedules, drawings and manufacture instructions.
  • Replace damaged or worn doors, frames, hinges, closers, locks, exit devices and related hardware.
  • Document door inspections, repairs, deficiencies and completed work.
  • Ability to perform wall layout, frame, and install new sheetrock.
  • Perform repairs on drywall, patching, finishing up to level 5, and painting.

  • Ability to sawcut, excavate failed pavement and subgrade, remove unsuitable material and rebuild the aggregate base.
  • Ability to place, rake, lute and shovel asphalt materials
  • Ability to identify pavement failures, drainage issues, rutting and areas requiring repair prior to failure.
  • Provide asbestos, mold, and lead-based paint abatement services.
  • Perform repairs on fire-rated walls, floors, and ceiling assemblies. Perform installation of approved fire systems.
  • Provide training to general maintenance staff in multi-craft areas of expertise.
  • Coordinate and perform maintenance work order requests.
  • Perform miscellaneous roofing and siding repairs.
  • Assist with general maintenance services as required including commercial furniture installations, pest control and remediation, recycling, landscaping, snow removal, fire extinguisher inspections, and related general maintenance responsibilities.
  • Operate excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including tractors, skid steers, backhoes, front-end loaders, and graders. Operate motorized heavy equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Basic knowledge of Commercial fencing, post repair, chain link, split rail, gate repair, barbwire repair, agricultural fencing.
  • Ability to perform interior and exterior building repairs, including the repair and replacement of windows, window frames, screens and related components.
Basic Qualifications

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Follow all ESH&Q policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow all ESH&Q policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOE orders and National Laboratory of the Rockies requirements.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Full knowledge of general maintenance, general carpentry, general maintenance tool skills, and multi-craft skills.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills. Ability to read blueprints.
  • Basic project administration skills.
  • Very good team and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction background a plus.
  • Experience with patching and painting, carpentry work, masonry work, and flooring repairs, door hardware, door frames repair and installation, Asphalt repair.
  • Completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship, technical certificate, vocational program.
  • Certificate, or apprenticeship training in commercial carpentry, construction technology, building construction ( CITC or other )
  • Training or certification in asphalt paving, highway construction, civil construction craft labor.
  • Training or certification in commercial doors, architectural openings, locksmithing, or door and hardware installation.
  • DHI Door and Hardware Industry associate or door + hardware technician credential preferred for door and hardware positions.
  • Training or apprenticeship in commercial painting, industrial painting, painting and decorating, surface preparation or protective coatings.
  • AMPP coating application specialist certification.
  • Equivalent combination of education, apprenticeship training, certifications and relevant experience may be considered.

Annual Salary Range

Job Profile: Facilities Tech III / Annual Salary Range: $57,900 - $95,500

NLR takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
