Your Impact at Lila

The Facilities Support Specialist plays a critical role in day-to-day laboratory and facility operations, ensuring safe handling of materials/equipment, executing light maintenance tasks, and supporting lab build-outs and reconfigurations. This role works closely with Lab Operations, Facilities, vendors, and internal scientific teams to ensure equipment delivery, installation, movement, and basic troubleshooting are completed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, safety‑oriented, highly reliable, and eager to support a fast‑moving research environment.

What You’ll Be Building
  • Safely move crates and equipment up to ~500 lbs across multiple floors and buildings.
  • Help maintain process gases, alarm systems, lab water/gas/air systems, and Milli‑Q systems.
  • Verify installation requirements such as electrical capacity, clearance, anchoring needs, and weight loading.
  • Assist in reconfiguring lab and office layouts as needed.
  • Operate material‑handling equipment including pallet jacks, scissor lifts, hydraulic stackers, and heavy‑duty dollies.
  • Receive shipments, break down crates, assist with loading dock logistics, and properly dispose of materials.
  • Assist with equipment relocation, setup, and installation, including basic troubleshooting of connections.
  • Coordinate with vendors on PMs, repairs, and equipment servicing.
  • Assist in wastewater management and compliance support.
  • Perform light repairs: patch/paint walls, minor construction, hardware installs, mounting soap/towel dispensers.
  • Build and assemble Uline/Metro racks, carts, whiteboards, and lab furniture.
  • Coordinate workflows with the Loading Dock Manager and Unity Lab Services.
  • Support facilities systems including BMS monitoring and work order intake/response.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • 3–5 years of experience in facilities, lab operations, warehouse, skilled trades, or equivalent technical environment.
  • Understanding of laboratory environments and basic utilities (gas, air, electrical).
  • Experience operating handling equipment (pallet jacks, lift equipment, material carts, etc.).
  • Ability to safely maneuver and move equipment up to ~500 lbs with proper tools.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with comfort assembling equipment, racking, and hardware.
  • Ability to read/interpret instructions, safety protocols, and installation requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond to urgent requests.
  • Comfortable working in active laboratory environments and complying with PPE requirements.
Bonus Points for
  • Experience with lab equipment support or regulated environments.
  • Experience coordinating vendors and/or performing equipment PM support.
  • Basic construction/trade skills (mounting, patching, anchoring, etc.).
  • Knowledge of process gas, CO₂/vacuum distribution, or water filtration systems (e.g., Milli‑Q).
  • Forklift or lift certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with BMS platforms and/or work order management systems.
