Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Facilities Manager to supervise hospital facilities management staff and mobile clinic maintenance repair crews. You will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, budgeting, and coordination with departments to ensure reliable building systems and services within a healthcare environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma (bachelor's preferred), 5 years of maintenance experience, and 2 years of supervisory work in building construction or repair.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper execution and documentation of preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintains proper daily documentation for all work performed.
  • Establishes a detailed construction schedule with projected start and completion dates.
  • Completes estimates for departments to assist in the capital budget process.
  • Maintains communications with affected departments and leaders during repairs.
  • Schedules and implements preventive maintenance for all equipment.
  • Manages department operational budget.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

This job supervises, hires, disciplines, terminates and institutes managerial decisions over hospital facilities management staff and mobile clinic maintenance repair staff. Supervises the overall maintenance and repair of building systems, central plant and fixed equipment within the utilities management program and the preventive and corrective maintenance program. Develops and maintains annual operations and capital budgets and manages minor construction and renovation projects.

Education

Required -High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred -Bachelor's degree inengineering, business, construction management or related field.

Work Experience

Required -5 years of maintenance experience.

Preferred - 2 years of supervisory experience in building construction, maintenance or repair work. Experience in a healthcare environment.

Certifications

Required -License or certification as required by scope of responsibility and/or government ordinance (or obtained within 12 months of hire)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Mechanically inclined with knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R).

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

  • Effective and competent management, judgment and decision making skills.

Job Duties
  • Ensures proper execution and documentation of preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance.

  • Maintains proper daily documentation for all work performed including but not limited to preventive maintenance work orders, emergency repair work orders, routing repair work orders and quick open/close sheets.

  • Establishes a detailed construction schedule with projected start and completion dates after project is awarded to contractor prior to project begin date.

  • Completes estimates for departments to assist in the capital budget process and in the unbudgeted capital process.

  • Maintains communications with all affected departments and leaders as appropriate while conducting repairs on equipment/building infrastructure components.

  • Schedules and implements preventive maintenance for all applicable equipment.

  • Manages department operational budget.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
