Job summary

The YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas seeks a Facilities Coordinator to supervise custodial staff and ensure clean, safe interior and exterior spaces. You will drive routine maintenance, maintain records, and manage inventory within budget guidelines to support a welcoming member experience.

Responsibilities include payroll assistance, coordinating with the Center Director, and leading in emergency situations while adhering to safety policies and Platinum standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Background in commercial level maintenance and cleaning.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience required.
• Ability to interact positively with people of all ages and abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Function independently while providing high level of detail work with strict compliance to maintenance procedures.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.
• Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment upon hire and annually thereafter.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check, and Child Protective Services check.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all maintenance/custodial staff.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks of facilities and outdoor grounds as a means of preventative maintenance.
• Maintain records and forms associated with performance of duties as required.
• Manage work flow through Facility Dude.
• Perform housekeeping duties and light maintenance in accordance with daily responsibilities.
• Participate in day-to-day cleaning and project cleaning as required (tile, rug and wood floor maintenance/cleaning).
• Supervise evening and weekend maintenance/custodial staff, ensuring quality and detailed cleaning.
• Assist in completing payroll and maintaining schedules for custodial staff.
• Work with Center Director to assign tasks to custodial staff.
• Ensure all safety and risk management trainings are completed and procedures are adhered to.
• As needed, assist as point of contact for vendors, contractors and building issues as they arise when Center Director is not in facility.
• Take inventory, order, and organize cleaning and paper supplies on a monthly basis within budget guidelines.
• Work with vendors, coordinating and arranging area availability for repairs to be performed.
• Follow department Platinum standards.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Wear staff uniform and name tag, or professional attire when appropriate.
• Act as a leader in emergency situations. Report any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan.
• Ensure all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow Center Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
• Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary by the Facility department and Center operations to ensure an excellent member experience.
