Job description

Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI) and Herzog Transit Services, Inc. (HTSI), collectively the ACI/Herzog Joint Venture (AHJV), along with our key subcontractors are seeking applicants for the Hudson Bergen Light Rail operation located in Hudson County, New Jersey. ACI was founded in 1989 with their corporate office located in Boston, MA and Herzog founded in 1969 with corporate offices located in St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX. Combined our companies provide FRA/FTA compliant transportation, equipment maintenance, dispatching, right-of-way maintenance, facility maintenance, and dispatching services for 20 distinct client properties. In addition to the Joint Venture being the upcoming operator/maintainer of the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, we currently jointly operate the Tren Urbano heavy rail service in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the CTDOT's Hartford intercity service in Connecticut.

ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors, are currently seeking a Facilities Supervisor to join our team.

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.

The Facilities Supervisor is the first-line supervisor for the facility infrastructure and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, planning, and emergency response related to the facilities (e.g. stations, maintenance building) within the Hudson Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) system. This role emphasizes safety, operational excellence, and effective team collaboration under varying conditions.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee all maintenance facility and station workforce.
  • The ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all system equipment, with an emphasis on facilities.
  • Provide supervision for the Facilities department.
  • Provide reports to the Superintendent of MOW.
  • Ensure all required documents are recorded and appropriately cataloged and stored.
  • Respond and provide support during accidents, incidents, or occurrences.
  • Participate in the hazard identification and resolution process.
  • Assist in training technicians in Preventative and Corrective Maintenance processes, inspections, repairs, and documentation.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of ACI-Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening as well as a background check and motor vehicle report review.
Education And/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous light rail experience is a plus.
  • 3-5 years' experience in facility maintenance.
  • Experience in the application of mechanical principles, repair methods, standards and practices typically found in a journey-level skilled trades position.
  • Skill in AC/DC systems, operating principles of analog and digital electronics, electronic control circuitry and associated systems, heating, lighting, air conditioning, and related systems.
  • Knowledge of current preventive maintenance requirements and skill in performing maintenance, skills in developing and implementing safety inspection procedures.
  • Skill in the use of operating portable test equipment, bench type workstations, tools, parts and supply manuals needed in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting schematics, maintenance manuals, technical information in repair manuals, service change bulletins, parts and supply manuals, and specifications.
  • Skill in preparing written reports, documenting defects and repairs on inspection forms, work orders, and designated computer programs, as well as in preparing accurate time and material cost estimates and keeping accurate records.
  • Skill in applying industrial safety procedures and standards including cleaning and maintaining facilities.
  • Skill in problem solving, analyzing and diagnosing problems.
  • Skill in the use of current Windows-based computer software; skill in learning new operating systems and staying current on all new technologies introduced into the transit industry related to maintenance.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Skill in working under established deadlines and timeframes.
  • Experience in leading and training maintenance staff in Preventative and Corrective processes, inspections, repairs, and documentation.
Language Skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English in a work setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write regulatory and departmental reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts including but not limited to proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to compute ratio, rates, percentages and able to draw and interpret graphs and tabular data sets.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must successfully complete Light Rail operations training programs and recertification annually.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and any other certificates, licenses and registrations as required by law to perform the specified functions.
  • Must be certified in CPR/AED and OSHA 30.
