Job description

IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 122-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced, Facilities Staff member to join our on-site team in Mansfield, Ohio. The Facilities Staff supports the organization by providing high-quality care, cleaning, and disinfecting of the organization's facilities including maintaining a clean and visually appealing appearance of the organization's buildings, including administrative and production areas of the facility, and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Sweep and mop hard floor surfaces and stairs throughout the building.
  2. Vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas throughout the building.
  3. Maintain restrooms: clean mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, mop floors, and replenish supplies.
  4. Clean desk and counter/table surfaces in offices, cubicles, conference rooms, and breakrooms.
  5. Clean inside/outside of windows and window ledges, walls, doors and stairwells.
  6. Empty waste receptacles and cardboard containers, schedule delivery and pickup of dumpsters.
  7. Maintain exterior of facility and grounds including keeping walkways clean, clearing outdoor waste collection areas, removing trash from grounds and from storm drains.
  8. Break down cardboard for recycling.
  9. Maintain adequate supply of cleaning products and tools, informing supervisor of needed items.
  10. Perform periodic duties such as scrubbing/waxing/buffing floors, cleaning carpets, performing minor repairs.
  11. Ensure proper working order of cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops, floor scrubbers, etc.
  12. Ensure waste drums are properly labeled in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  13. Report unsafe conditions to supervisor or management.
  14. Report broken tools and equipment to supervisor or management.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

  1. High School diploma or certified equivalent.
  2. Previous professional cleaning/janitorial experience of 2 years required with an understanding of the importance of a clean and safe work environment.
  3. Previous cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  4. Ability to perform cleaning and minor repairs of cleaning tools and equipment, such as vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber, etc.
  5. Must be able to lift heavy objects and to stand for extended periods of time while performing the duties of this position.
  6. Teamwork approach with excellent communication skills.
  7. Ability to carry out tasks with minimal direction.
  8. Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  9. Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS:

  1. Daily 8-hour minimum. Weekly 40-hour minimum.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen/hear, talk, read, and count.
  2. Is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; to enter small and/or confined spaces, and to move unassisted throughout all interior and exterior areas of the facility.
  3. Is occasionally required to sit and climb, or balance.
  4. Must be able to occasionally lift to 50 pounds unassisted, and to climb ladders and scaffolds to heights of 20 feet with regularity.
  5. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
