Job summary

About the Role:

The Facilities Specialist I is a hands-on position that directs care and maintenance activities for Bay Federal’s facilities by participating in, analyzing, planning, organizing, and managing functions related to building maintenance, equipment maintenance, space planning, fixed assets, and safety/security. The role also supports routine and preventative maintenance, vendor coordination, facility projects, emergency response, and the overall safety and appearance of Credit Union locations.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility required for occasional after-hours or weekend projects and facility needs.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Promote and maintain a positive image of Bay Federal while providing responsive, professional service to employees, members, vendors, and the community
  • Perform routine and preventative building maintenance and troubleshoot facility issues across Bay Federal locations
  • Maintain safe, clean, organized, and secure facilities, including supporting cameras, alarms, badge access, and workplace safety systems
  • Manage facilities support tickets and respond to maintenance needs, including emergency repairs and after-hours projects as needed
  • Coordinate vendors, work orders, purchasing, and facility services, ensuring projects and repairs are completed successfully
  • Assist with space planning, employee moves, equipment installations, branch improvements, and other facilities projects
  • Support vendor selection and contract management, including obtaining bids and verifying required vendor documentation
  • Process vendor invoices and support purchasing and expense reconciliation activities
You’re Perfect For This Role If You Have:
  • General building maintenance and repair experience with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and building utility systems
  • Experience coordinating vendors, work orders, and multiple facilities-related priorities
  • A safety-first mindset with strong organization and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, team-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and take initiative
  • A valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and flexibility for occasional after-hours projects
  • Facilities experience is preferred; multi-site facilities or trade/technical experience is a plus

Bay Federal Credit Union is proud to offer a competitive, robust compensation and benefits package. Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer. For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $24 - $30 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.

Bay Federal provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and 401k with a company match to eligible employees; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. Paid time off is accrued per paycheck for eligible employees at a rate based on your tenure. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
