The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is responsible for the health and safety of all citizens and visitors to the state. As a public health agency, the Florida Department of Health must monitor the health status of Floridians, diagnose, and investigate health problems, and mobilize local communities to address health-related issues. The Florida Department of Health develops policies and plans that support health goals, enforce laws and regulations that protect the health of all residents and visitors, and link people to needed health care services. The Florida Department of Health also provides specialized assistance to pregnant women, infants, and children with special health care needs, regulates health care practitioners, and provides medical disability determinations.

Facilities Services Manager

This is a highly responsible supervisory administrative position within the General Services Office that works under the supervision of the General Services Manager of the Florida Department of Health-Hillsborough County (FDOH-HC). The incumbent in this position directly supervises three (3) Maintenance Mechanics and one (1) Stores Consultant in the Mailroom. This includes planning and organizing the facilities work order system and mailroom supporting more than 10 locations throughout Hillsborough County. This incumbent will also serve as the Safety Coordinator.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to; hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting evaluations, planning and directing work, approving leave and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Managing all day-to-day operations and activities of the Facilities department and Mailroom.
  • Ensures development, implementation and maintenance of internal operating procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance and interpretations of mechanical up-keep and repairs as well as preventative maintenance on all equipment and basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, A/C and heating.
  • Responsible for assigning work orders to mechanics daily and does quality assurance checks/site visits on various work orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining state vehicles assigned to the Facilities department.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for Facilities department through the MyFloridaMarketplace state purchasing system.
  • Responsible for use of Purchasing card and all rules and policies associated with state card.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff and customers.
  • Serves as Safety Coordinator and manages Safety workgroup for the department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of painting and patching. Basic service repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to research and analyze specifications pertaining to annual agreements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • 5 years of maintenance mechanic experience.
  • 5 years of customer service experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 2 years of project management experience.
  • 2 years computer experience; WORD, Excel, and Outlook.
  • ValidDriver'sLicense.

Preferred:

  • Purchasing experience.
  • State P-Card experience
