Job summary

San Diego Theatres is seeking a Facilities Services Worker to maintain clean and safe interiors and exteriors of Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre, with occasional office duties at 225 Broadway. You will support events by setting up equipment and furniture, stocking supplies, and assisting guests with facility inquiries.

The role requires English proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends, and ability to work in a team while maintaining confidentiality and high ethics.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and speak English.
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-stocked interior and exterior environment.
  • Clean restrooms, lobbies, seating areas, backstage areas, and exterior entrances.
  • Clean all windows and glass except for grand chandelier areas.
  • Stock and organize janitorial closets; care for equipment and supplies.
  • Move, set and restore tables, chairs, and pipe and drape equipment.
  • Assist guests with facility questions and event-related inquiries.
  • Report repairs or maintenance to supervisor; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

SUMMARYThe Facilities Services Worker is responsible for keeping the interior and exterior areas of Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre in a safe, clean and well stocked condition. They will also be asked to occasionally maintain the office areas at the San Diego Theatres Corporate offices located at the 225 Broadway building. Service Workers also assist with the setup of equipment and furniture to support and enhance the activities specific to the events and operation of the organization.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; other duties may be assigned.Maintain a safe work environment for the employees and guests.Maintain the clean and sanitized condition of restrooms, lobbies, seating areas, backstage dressing, support areas, and exterior entrances.Clean all windows and glass in the buildings except for the Grand Salon chandelier.Stock, organize, and clean janitorial closets. Maintain proper care of equipment and supplies.Empty trash and recycle cans and dispose of all waste in the proper dumpsters and compactors.Move, set, and restore equipment and furniture including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, and pipe and drape.Assist with customer service and engagement by answering guests' questions regarding the facility.Promptly report any equipment, fixture, or area of the venue in need of repair or maintenance to supervisor.Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTSMust be able to both speak and read the English Language (Bi-Lingual English - Spanish is preferred.)This position requires the servicing of occupied restrooms and may require a male or female to perform these duties.Strong personal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.Possess exceptional ethics, honesty, and integrity with regards to professional behavior and confidentiality.Ability to work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner.Ability to read directions, plans, and maps to determine venue setups.Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Ability to operate or learn to operate all housekeeping equipment used at theatre.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified or ability to become certified in scissor lift operations and other heavy-duty equipment such as forklift certification a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Climb steps repeatedlyDescend/ascend ramps and inclines/declinesStand for long periods of timeWork in a fast-paced, busy environment.Ability to bend, stretch, reach and kneel.Ability to frequently lift, hold, and move 40lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Occasional exposure to fumes, humid conditions, cleaning chemicals, outside weather, low light, and loud noises.IN-HOUSE TRAINING REQUIREMENTSWorkplace Harassment Awareness, New Employee OrientationCPR/AED Training, Position Job Safety Training.
