Job summary

New York City Housing Authority is seeking a supervisor to oversee the operation and maintenance of its housing properties. The role involves directing skilled and semi-skilled staff, implementing procedures, setting work schedules and developing instructions to maintain agency standards.

The position requires five years of supervisory experience in large-tenanted building maintenance, with at least three years in charge of teams of seven or more employees.

Qualifications

• A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus five years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings.
• At least three years in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees.
• Higher education may be substituted for up to two years of this experience (30 semester credits from an accredited college for each year of experience).

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise the care, cleaning and policing of all public spaces within Housing Authority buildings and grounds.
• Supervise the maintenance of facility services, including water, gas, electricity, heat, hot water, and waste disposal.
• Inspect work of maintenance contractors.
• Supervise the repair and adjustment of structures and equipment.
• Train and instruct maintenance employees.
• Keep records and accounts of equipment and supplies and prepare appropriate reports.
