Job summary

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is seeking an experienced project manager to oversee capital improvement projects and ongoing maintenance of police facilities. You will act as on-site representative, directing contractors and coordinating with design teams to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

The role requires five years of relevant experience, an assoc. degree in construction/related fields, and a Nevada driver's license.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing construction projects, including overseeing work of contractors and facility construction/maintenance.
• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, facilities management, drafting, architectural design, engineering or related area, or equivalent.
• Possession of a Class C Nevada Driver License.
• Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident without conditions on status by the date of the first test instrument.
• Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.

Salary Informatio n:

The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.

Definition:

Incumbents perform project management functions over capital improvement projects and maintenance of existing facilities. As on-site representatives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), incumbents manage the work of contractors involved in the design and engineering of construction projects; manage the work of building contractors; manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance contracts and activities for all LVMPD buildings, facilities, and equipment; and collaborate, work in conjunction with and lead Facilities Maintenance Coordinators, Building Services Technicians and custodial staff.

Training, Education and Experience

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing construction projects, including managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction and maintenance, which covers contract management and electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and repairs; and


• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, facilities management, drafting, architectural design, engineering or a related area, or equivalent; and


• Possession of a Class C Nevada Driver License.

Best Candidates Will Have

• Five or more years of supervisory experience in facility maintenance management to include electrical, mechanical/HVAC/plumbing, and multi-discipline building repairs.


• Post-high school education in the electrical trade, mechanical trade, general construction, and/or management.


• A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Drafting, Architectural Design, Engineering or a related area, or equivalent.


• More than eight years of experience in managing construction projects and facility maintenance; managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction; facility maintenance which covers contract management of janitorial, landscaping, including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems maintenance and repairs.


• Current certification as a Certified Construction Manager issued by the American National Standards Institute; or comparable professional certifications in construction management issued by an accredited college or university.

2. Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.


3. Office and construction site environments, travel from site to site in urban or rural areas; exposure to computer screen, unforeseen inclement weather, power tools, noise, dust, smoke, fumes, confined spaces, and high voltage.


4. Vision sufficient to read the computer screen, as well as fine prints in documents.


5. Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone.


6. Mobility sufficient to climb, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel.


7. Dexterity and mobility sufficient to work in the office, use standard office equipment, drive a motor vehicle to visit various Department offices and work sites; operate assigned equipment and vehicles, climb ladders and stairs, if necessary.


8. Strength sufficient to lift and carry moderately heavy items such as stacks of files and plans, with or without the aid of equipment.


9. Endurance sufficient to sit or stand for prolonged periods to complete assigned tasks; stand and move around while working indoors, outdoors or within confined space; or to wear Personal Protective Equipment in special situations.
