Job summary

Arizona State University in Tempe is seeking a Facilities Specialist 2 to provide intermediate facilities operations support for a Research space portfolio. The role coordinates small construction projects, tenant improvements, and restoration work in alignment with established policies and procedures.

You will collaborate with tenants, ASU service groups, and external agencies to ensure specifications are met, develop scopes of work, prepare budgets, and schedule contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience with Tenant Improvement projects and coordination of construction.
  • Knowledge of planning, budgeting, scheduling, and contract delivery processes.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications and ensure conformance with project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate small construction projects, restoration work, and tenant improvements.
  • Coordinate work with tenants, ASU service groups, and outside agencies to meet specifications.
  • Develop scope of work and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Monitor progress for timeliness, conformance, and workmanship.
  • Prepare cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment for renovations.
  • Prepare and obtain funding approvals and coordinate contracting.
  • Schedule contractors and sub-contractors; attend pre-construction conferences.
  • Review plans for conformance to project requirements.
  • Coordinate installation of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment and staff relocations.
  • Create and update the space characteristic database.

Job Profile:Facilities Specialist 2Job Family:Facilities ManagementTime Type:Full timeApply before 11:59 PM Arizona time the day before the posted End Date.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Job Profile Summary:Provides intermediate to complex facilities operations support for a department based on established policies and procedures.Job Description:Facilities Development and Management, Facilities Management, Research seeks a Facilities Project Coordinator to coordinate facilities projects, small construction and tenant improvements for Research spaces.Essential Duties:Coordinate small construction projects, restoration work, and tenant improvements.Coordinate work with tenant user and all appropriate ASU service groups and outside agencies, ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications.Develop scope of work and manage projects.Observe work in progress to gauge timeliness, conformance with requirements, and acceptable workmanship.Interview customers to collect information for designing their tenant improvement plan, accounting for all required services and construction.Provide cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment for renovation designs.Prepare and obtain funding approvals for projects.Coordinate and schedule contractors and sub-contractors work activities.Attend pre-construction conferences and reviews contract bidding documents.Review contract plans and specifications for conformance to project requirements.Obtain approvals and submit all paperwork to appropriate agencies where required for renovation designs. Consult with the user in general laboratory systems design and parts acquisition; examples include special acid sinks, strain gauges, and measurement equipment.Coordinate maintenance and service issues with maintenance personnel where required.Coordinate installation of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment and schedule/coordinate department staff relocation.Create and update space characteristic database.Evidence of effective communication skills.DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Mon – Fri 8:00AM – 5:00PMThis position is based at ASU’s Tempe campus but will require working from other campuses depending on operational needs.Position Salary Range:$58,000 to 62,000 annually.
