Akkodis is seeking a Facilities Power Design Engineer to join our client's team in Monrovia, California to support their program with NASA's Deep Space Network Team (DSN).

Type: Direct/Permanent Hire

Salary: $155k/annual - $200k/annual - Salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors

Location: Remote

Home Office: Monrovia, CA (Open to candidates in any state within the US)

The candidate will assist in planning, reviewing designs, analyzing, cost estimating, maintaining, and providing overall technical direction of the subsystem in support of the DSN, Development, and Operations Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of design, construction, acceptance testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of Power Distribution, Generation, and Protection equipment.
• Responsible for project design and implementation of repairing or replacing existing systems. The candidate may lead smaller projects involving research and coordination with subcontractors to achieve milestones.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel for issues on Power systems. Support facility, consultants, and field technicians in different time zones as required, and analyze and resolve system problems.
• Support the DSN Engineering Change Management (ECM) Board in developing, evaluating, and costing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), preparing and delivering Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) or Modification Kits (Modkits), and troubleshooting Discrepancy Reports (DRs).

Qualifications

• Must possess a California Professional Engineering (PE) License
• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with emphasis in Power Engineering
• 8+ years of verifiable direct Facility Power Distribution design and field experience
• Knowledgeable with NEC Standards
• Able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). Must show proof of citizenship for clearance.
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi-task, adapt quickly to change, and demonstrate analytical thinking with attention to detail
• Experience with commissioning Power equipment (UPS, ATS's, Generators, Switchgear, PLC's, etc.)
• Experience working with maintenance reports, trending analysis, and specifying equipment replacements
• Experience troubleshooting Power system equipment, schematics, PLC logic, and PID control diagrams
• *Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus but not required
