Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) St. Louis Health Care System is seeking a Plumber to support the Facilities Management service.

The incumbent will receive work assignments and ensure each task is completed, including inspecting piping, valves, fittings, and fixtures for defects as part of the maintenance program. Qualification emphasizes demonstrated plumbing training or experience, the ability to interpret instructions or blueprints, and physical capability for assembly,

Qualifications

• Evidence of plumbing training or experience; tasks must meet the standard of the Federal Wage System.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, possibly blueprints.
• Physical ability to perform plumbing work including bending, stooping, overhead work, lifting and carrying.

Responsibilities

• Follow written or verbal work assignments through to completion.
• Periodically inspect piping, valves, fittings and fixtures for defects as part of the maintenance schedule.
• Perform installation, repair and maintenance tasks as required by the organization’s maintenance program.
