Job summary

UC San Diego's Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services team seeks a Facilities Manager to organize daily operations across housing and dining facilities. You will supervise staff, develop maintenance plans, oversee contracts, and drive safety and high-quality service across complex systems.

The ideal candidate has a college degree in a related field and several years managing facilities operations, including union environments, budgeting, and project oversight.

Qualifications

• College degree in a related field and/or three years of management experience in physical plant operations.
• Experience supervising facility maintenance and building operations, including trades and custodial.
• Experience managing in a union environment.
• Knowledge of budgeting, HR processes, and safety/emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and coordinate daily facilities staff activities.
• Develop long-range maintenance and preventative plans for equipment.
• Oversee contracts and project delivery, ensuring quality and safety.
• Respond to urgent facility issues outside normal hours when needed.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to a diverse work team.
