Job summary

The City of Faribault is seeking a Facilities Manager to plan, organize, and oversee maintenance, asset management, security, and operation of City-owned facilities and grounds. This role ensures municipal buildings are safe, functional, cost-effective, and compliant while serving staff and the public.

The position offers a competitive starting salary in the range of $91,395.20 to $110,052.80 per year and requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, five years of facility management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facility management, building maintenance, construction management, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operation and maintenance of City facilities, including City Hall, police and fire facilities, public works buildings, community center, Library and other municipal properties.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
• Implement and manage workflow and work order system.
• Coordinate repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
• Monitor building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, and fire protection systems.
• Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Plan and oversee facility improvement and construction projects.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Review plans and specifications for facility-related projects.
• Prepare and manage facility maintenance and capital budgets.
• Establish and manage a deferred maintenance plan for all City facilities.
• Track expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop long-range facility replacement and improvement plans.
• Maintain facility records, inventories, and asset management systems.
• Manage insurance liability claims for facilities.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, environmental, and other code requirements.
• Create and comply with existing policy and standard operating procedures.
• Guarantee adherence that all applicable organizational standards, licenses, certifications and training requirements are current and in compliance with Federal and State statutes.
• Supervise facilities custodial personnel as assigned.
• Establish work priorities and performance expectations.
• Maintain staff scheduling and coverage when staff are absent.
• Coordinate and manage contractor services and vendor agreements.
• Evaluate contractor performance and ensure contract compliance.
• Respond to facility-related concerns from City departments and the public.
• Coordinate facility scheduling and space utilization as needed.
• Foster positive working relationships with employees, elected officials, and community members.
• Performs other duties or special projects assigned.
