Job summary

Corning Inc. in Corning, NY seeks a Facilities Technician to support the safe, efficient operation of building systems and infrastructure.

You will monitor performance, assist with troubleshooting, coordinate maintenance activities, and oversee vendor and contractor work to ensure service meets company standards. This role focuses on technical support and operations oversight, with occasional hands-on maintenance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering, building system technology, facilities management or related field.
• 3+ years experience in facilities operations, building maintenance coordination, property operations, or technical building support
• Demonstrated ability to support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving across multiple facility systems
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of workplace safety requirements, compliance standards, and safe work practices

Responsibilities

• Monitor building systems and infrastructure to support continuous operations.
• Identify and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Coordinate and direct on-site trades, contractors, and service providers during maintenance, repair, and project activities.
• Support preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose equipment or system failures and recommend corrective action.
• Liaise with external vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and work order documentation.
• Participate in facility inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and support follow-up corrective actions.
• Communicate facility issues, progress, and interruptions to occupants and internal teams.
• Support emergency response efforts and coordinate urgent repair activities as needed
