Job description

Facilities Operations Manager – Electrical

As the Facilities Operations Manager – Electrical, you will lead the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of mission‑critical electrical systems supporting OCI data centers. Reporting to the Site Operations Director, this role owns electrical plant operations, maintenance execution, vendor performance, technician leadership, operational readiness, and incident response to ensure continuous uptime and protection of compute load. You will oversee the operation and maintenance of systems such as switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, transfer switches, PDUs, busway, grounding, and related monitoring platforms. This role is centered on day‑to‑day plant operations and field execution rather than primary design authority.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operation, maintenance, and service execution for critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Own electrical plant readiness, including preventive maintenance, testing, repairs, corrective work, outage coordination, and maintenance backlog management.
  • Serve as the primary site point of contact and technical lead for electrical systems, including incident escalation and operational decision support.
  • Manage Facilities Technicians, contractors, and service vendors, ensuring safety, quality, procedural discipline, and SLA performance.
  • Oversee troubleshooting and restoration for electrical faults, equipment degradation, abnormal conditions, and operational incidents.
  • Drive rigorous execution of switching, maintenance coordination, and safe work practices in line with approved procedures and code requirements.
  • Track and improve KPIs such as equipment availability, backlog health, incident trends, MTTR, maintenance completion, and corrective action closure.
  • Partner with engineering, commissioning, deployment, reliability, and site leadership teams on upgrades, lifecycle replacements, new capacity turn‑up, and system handoff.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis for electrical events and ensure corrective actions are documented, implemented, verified, and sustained.
  • Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records including procedures, service reports, one‑lines, test results, and CMMS data.
  • Champion electrical safety, including NFPA 70E, LOTO, PPE, contractor compliance, and switching discipline.
  • Coach and develop technicians and frontline leaders to reinforce safety, technical capability, and execution quality.
  • Support the Site Operations Director with status reporting, operational risk visibility, staffing readiness, and improvement initiatives for the electrical plant.
Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of experience in electrical maintenance, service execution, or plant operations in data centers or other mission‑critical environments such as utilities, manufacturing, healthcare, telecom, or industrial facilities.
  • 2–4+ years of experience leading technicians, service teams, or maintenance execution in live operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of switchgear, UPS systems, batteries, generators, transfer equipment, PDUs, grounding, and power distribution systems.
  • Experience managing maintenance programs, outages, vendor execution, and incident response in live operational environments.
  • Familiarity with EPMS, SCADA, BMS, and CMMS tools.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, turnover, or acceptance of new electrical systems is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong electrical safety leadership and operational judgment.
  • Ability to manage incidents calmly and communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Strong ownership mindset with disciplined follow‑through on risk reduction and corrective actions.
  • High attention to detail in switching, procedures, documentation, and compliance execution.
  • Ability to lead technicians and contractors while reinforcing strong execution standards and field discipline.
Preferred Skills / Certifications
  • Experience with mission‑critical power systems in high‑availability environments.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance, electrical testing practices, switching procedures, and incident review processes.
  • Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician license where applicable.
  • NFPA 70E training strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • OEM or manufacturer training on UPS systems, switchgear, generators, breakers, or protective systems preferred.
  • NETA, NICET, or similar electrical testing / maintenance‑related credentials are a plus where relevant to the role.
