Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer I or II to oversee the safe design and operation of mechanical systems for the Texas Institute for Electronics facilities. The role covers chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, HVAC and related equipment while coordinating with manufacturing teams to optimize reliability and energy use.

The position requires a relevant degree and engineering experience, with higher qualifications for the II level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Two+ years’ experience in building mechanical systems engineering, design and construction.
  • Master’s degree preferred for II level position.
  • Two+ years’ experience in building mechanical systems engineering, design and construction for advanced level.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safe design and operation of mechanical systems for semiconductor facilities.
  • Design and operate chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps and heat exchangers.
  • Troubleshoot deficiencies and implement maintenance strategies to improve reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
