Job summary

Chapel Hill Bible Church in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Facilities Manager to steward campus facilities and grounds, ensuring readiness for worship, ministry, and community use. This role combines hands-on maintenance leadership with team-building—staff, vendors, and volunteers—and oversight of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Providing overall leadership for Facilities, aligning all work with the mission of CHBC.
  • Overseeing operations, maintenance, and stewardship of a 79,000-square-foot church building and 31-acre campus, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, security, fire systems, utilities, and grounds.
  • Directing preventative, corrective, and long-term capital maintenance to keep facilities safe, reliable, welcoming, and sustainable.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable building, fire, life-safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervising Facilities staff and discern, assemble, and lead the best combination of staff, vendors, contractors, and volunteers to meet Facilities-related needs.
  • Stewarding the Facilities budget and church resources, ensuring wise and effective use of the financial, physical, and operational resources God has provided.
  • Overseeing building use, event scheduling, security systems, emergency preparedness, and serve as a primary point of contact for facility-related emergencies.
  • Partnering with ministry leaders to ensure facilities effectively support church programs, events, and ministry activities while maintaining readiness for ministry use.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining Facilities-related policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education, training, workshops, and professional development.

OVERVIEW

Our mission at Chapel Hill Bible Church is to equip our church as a community to reach the Triangle and beyond with the message of Jesus. The Facilities Manager role exists to steward the church’s buildings and grounds as a sacred trust for the glory of God and the advancement of the gospel. The Manager ensures that the campus is fully prepared for worship, ministry, and community use by overseeing all operations, maintenance, and planning. Working within the Ministry Operations team, the Facilities Manager provides environments where ministry can flourish by leading with excellence, foresight, and faithfulness.

  • Strong fiscal stewardship mindset to faithfully manage the financial and physical resources God has provided.
  • Competence in facility systems and operations, balancing hands-on involvement with delegation.

  • Clear, collaborative communicator with a grace-filled presence when handling interruptions, urgent needs, and confidential information.
  • Dependable, punctual, detail-oriented, and organized with strong followthrough.
  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn unfamiliar systems (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Basecamp).
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance trades, including HVAC, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Previous leadership experience in facilities, operations, management, or ministry support preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant certifications in facilities management, safety, or skilled trades are a plus.
Expected hours:
  • Full-Time: Sun-Th or Mon-Fri (first point of contact for emergencies)
