Job summary

Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT) is seeking a Facilities Manager for Sterling Heights, MI. The role requires supervising crane operators and trades personnel, coordinating with plant management, customers, vendors, and contractors, and overseeing preventive maintenance programs.

You will manage parts inventory, procurement, and logistics, track metrics and reporting, and lead daily safety talks while providing 24/7 operational support as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience operating mobile equipment preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and basic software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise UAW crane operators and skilled trades personnel while supporting daily operations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between plant management, customers, vendors, and contractors.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Manage parts inventory, procurement, purchasing, forecasting, and vendor administration.
• Coordinate rail, trucking, material handling, and commodity shipment logistics.
• Track production, contract performance, operational metrics, and required reporting.
• Lead safety programs, conduct daily safety talks, and manage safety equipment needs.
• Prepare emergency work orders, breakdown investigations, executive summaries, and purchase requests.
• Direct facility improvement projects, oversee workforce timekeeping/PTO approvals, and provide 24/7 operational support.

Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds, and is a key supplier to the metals industry throughout North America. FPT is a wholly owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and has an immediate opportunity for a Facilities Manager.

The Facilities Manager must be self-driven, follow instructions well, and be a team player. The Facilities Manager must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed. Daily work includes manual labor in an industrial setting, including working in the elements (outside) around heavy equipment and inside industrial locations.

Minimum Qualifications
