The University of Dubuque seeks a Facilities Maintenance Worker specializing in plumbing to support campus facilities. The role covers industrial and domestic piping, fixture repairs, and preventative maintenance across buildings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed journeyman preferred or 5 years or more experience in journeyman-level plumbing.
  • Willingness to get backflow licensing next time training is in the area.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Respond to calls for emergency services including snow removal on nights and weekends.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building piping work, including industrial and domestic water, sewer and other drain lines, air, gas, vacuum, and steam lines.
  • Install, maintain, and repair fixtures such as faucets, toilets, steam traps, drains, water fountains, water heaters, and similar devices.
  • Maintain, repair, and install building plumbing systems, components, fixtures, and equipment according to maintenance schedules; clear obstructions from waste and sewer lines.
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry, remodels, & new construction.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and buildings.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting.
  • Repair and/or replace concrete, plaster walls, paint walls, ceilings, fixtures, etc.

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Worker will be responsible forperforming general maintenance and repair duties across campusbuildings and facilities, with a specialization in plumbing. Theideal candidate will be a dependable, self-motivated individual whotakes pride in their work and values teamwork in a mission-drivenenvironment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform building piping work, including industrial and domesticwater, sewer and other drain lines, air, gas, vacuum, and steamlines
  • Install, maintain, and repair fixtures such as faucets,toilets, steam traps, drains, water fountains, water heaters, andsimilar devices
  • Maintain, repair, and install building plumbing systems,components, fixtures, and equipment according to establishedmaintenance schedules; clean obstructions from waste and sewagelines

  • Conduct inspections to identify and resolve issuesproactively
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance withsafety regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of theUniversity'sMission
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Occasional heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. is required
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time, bend,stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to climb a 12' ladder, work on scaffolding &operate an aerial lift
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, andinterpersonal
