Job summary

The City of Wichita is hiring for a semiskilled maintenance role in buildings, grounds, and equipment maintenance. You will assist skilled workers, perform routine upkeep, and help with carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs.

Workdays are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with a SEIU bargaining unit. Requires a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Kansas CDL with air brake within six months; work involves outdoor conditions and drug testing per policy.

Qualifications

• Six months of semiskilled maintenance experience or related tasks.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Kansas CDL class B with air brake within six months.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform semiskilled building, mechanical, construction or grounds tasks.
• Assist with carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs.
• Operate vehicles as required by assignments and maintain records.
• Tolerate outdoor work and follow safety procedures.
