Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Persons employed as a Facilities Maintenance Technician are expected to:

  • Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, collecting trash, etc.
  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc.
  • Maintain and inspect electrical circuitry
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation)
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm)
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
  • Report issues to a facilities or maintenance manager
  • Install and/or repair heating and refrigeration units
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces
  • Perform custodial duties as necessary
  • Assist in preparing job estimates as required
  • Follow safety policies and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are essential to the job, in addition to those listed above and on the chart in this description. Tasks may be performed in varying weather and environmental conditions, such as precipitation, extreme temperatures, fumes, dust, and noise. Work is performed inside and outside near stationary and moving aircraft, including spinning propellers and engines.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
  • Read and comprehend instructions, memos, and short correspondence
  • Write routine correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed or uninvolved instructions
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Perform basic math operations in all units of measure
  • Have basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Possess very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have physical stamina and dexterity
QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

  • High School diploma or GED plus at least one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum age of 18
  • The ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and obtain an airport security badge; must be insurable
  • Legal authorization to work in the country of employment
  • Preferred prior facility maintenance experience
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Completion of an apprenticeship is preferred
