Job description

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Northern Kentucky · Food manufacturing · Utilities and plant systems

The person who keeps the ammonia, the steam, the air, and the building working so production can run.

Why this is open

The utilities and building systems need dedicated coverage. This is not production-line mechanic work. It is the refrigeration, the boilers, the compressed air, the HVAC, and the water systems that the plant cannot run without.

The work

You would monitor and maintain the facility systems that support food manufacturing: ammonia refrigeration, steam, compressed air, HVAC, soft water, wastewater, and the related building systems. Daily checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs.

You would work with the facilities lead, log work in the CMMS, and take on the training required for the more complex systems. Leaks, fixtures, evaporative cooling, and the ordinary building work are part of the day. The critical systems are the reason the seat exists.

GMP and plant safety rules apply. Hand tools are expected. Overtime and weekend coverage happen when a system needs it.

What good looks like
  • You treat the ammonia and steam systems with the respect they require.
  • You catch small problems before they become plant problems.
  • You can follow a PM and also diagnose when the system is not behaving.
  • You document what you did so the next shift is not guessing.
Who this is for
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 years in construction or related work required. 2–3 years in facilities, industrial maintenance, or construction preferred.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, fluid systems, or water treatment is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn ammonia, steam, and compressed-air systems on the job.
  • Able to work the 12-hour rotating schedule.
The schedule

Two 12-hour shifts. Day is 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Night is 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The days rotate monthly. One month is Monday through Thursday. The next is Friday through Monday. Then it switches. Overtime and weekend coverage happen. This is a plant, not an office.

Pay and benefits

Pay range is roughly $25 to $35 per hour depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, life, disability, and 401(k).

The place

A food manufacturing plant in the Walton area that runs on real utilities. The facilities team is the reason the lines stay cold, the steam stays up, and the building stays open. Company name shared after a conversation.
