Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform a wide range of construction, repair, and safety duties across city facilities and parks. You will operate heavy equipment, weld, install park structures, and assist with aquatic and recreational features.

Requires five years of related experience, a valid driver’s license with CDL within six months, and ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years of related experience.
• Valid Driver’s License; ability to obtain Class A CDL within six months.
• Pass criminal background check as per Arkansas law.
• Strong written and spoken communication.
• Ability to read safety rules and manuals.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Safely perform construction, maintenance and repair on equipment and facilities.
• Perform electrical, masonry, painting, plumbing, metal and carpentry work.
• Perform welding and cutting.
• Design and build wooden and metal objects per supervisor requests.
• Produce drawings from instructions.
• Install park structures and fixtures.
• Winterize/de-winterize water features and restrooms.
• Build/concrete sidewalks and pads.
• Perform pool repair and maintain chlorinators.
• Fences installation and repair in parks.
• Operate power and hand tools and heavy equipment.
• Interact with the public politely.
• Install holiday lights from lifts/ladder.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Occasionally lead a crew; other duties as assigned.
