Job description

The Facilities/Maintenance Technician completes general maintenance, landscaping and repair of grounds tasks. This includes mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, etc. This position will also maintain and repair a fleet of loaner bikes for summer students, faculty, and staff. The Technician must be able to operate/maintain vehicles and equipment as well as power and hand tools. They may be asked to perform or assist with small-scale facilities maintenance/repair. The Technician will always maintain a clean and professional appearance as a representative of the Aspen Music Festival & School.

Responsibilities
  • Perform regular landscaping, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Basic repair and maintenance of bicycles that are loaned to students for the summer.
  • Respond to maintenance calls in an effective and timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve efficiently & effectively.
  • Must be able to work variable hours. This includes early mornings, weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Will aid other departments as directed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Safety as a Key Responsibility
  • Protect safety of self, co-workers, students, & faculty at all times.
  • Be aware of and report any potentially harmful or dangerous situation to a supervisor or manager ASAP.
  • In the event of an accident or incident, whether or not an injury is sustained, report it immediately to one's immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and company training and policies.
  • Operate all vehicles and equipment in a safe manner to avoid injury to yourself and others.
Requirements
  • One year of school or experience in landscaping and general maintenance, including bike repairs; or some combination of both training and experience. Some experience preferred in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, emails and memos. Ability to write short and simple professional responses. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group settings to other employees, faculty, or students. Must be fluent in English.
  • Ability to use a computer for email, payroll, and basic office applications.
  • Ability to take basic instructions and perform tasks adequately and safely, often times with little direct supervision. Must be aware of facilities and surroundings throughout the workday looking to both see issues and identify areas of improvement.
  • This is a physically demanding job, which may require physical labor and standing/moving for an entire shift. Must have adequate vision and hearing to ensure safety. Must be able to work with hands & arms above their head. Must be able to climb, balance, squat, kneel, or crawl. Regular lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs. or more is required; occasional lift/move up to 100 lbs also occurs within job assignments.
  • Employee is exposed to outside weather in a high mountain environment. This can include thunderstorms, blowing snow, extreme cold or heat, and smoke.

Dates

This is a full-time, seasonal position from May through September. Exact dates are flexible

Compensation

$25-$30/hr, depending on experience. Hourly, non-exempt position. Overtime: $37.50-45/hr.

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
