Job summary

Kanto Corporation, a U.S. leader in high-purity specialty chemicals, is seeking a seasoned Facilities Maintenance Technician III in Oregon. You will maintain, repair, and upgrade plant equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and facilities within a high-purity environment.

You will work with engineers and technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in facilities maintenance, strong pipe fitting, carpentry, electrical skills, CMMS experience,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AA as Electrical or Maintenance Technician or certification training from a college or technical school (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of experience working as a facilities technician.
  • Advanced pipe fitting and carpentry skills and /or electrical skills.
  • Must have experience using basic hand and power tools and working with limited supervision.
  • Must acquire or be certified as a Hazardous Materials Technician as per 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii), and wear PPE as required.
  • Experience with ultrapure water and high purity chemical systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and read and interpret various documents.
  • Strong mathematical skills and reasoning ability.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for long periods and work in industrial environments.
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance (PM) orders and health checks on facility equipment, including water/ wastewater systems, HVAC, wiring, compressors, boilers, nitrogen system, and PPE.
  • Troubleshoots equipment failures and coordinates with outside contractors as required.
  • Works with controls systems and troubleshooting to keep processes running.
  • Uses CMMS to track and complete work and improve maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinates with Production and Process groups to minimize production impact while operating valves and equipment.
  • Follows safety requirements and participates in the safety committee.
  • Participates in annual maintenance assignments.
  • May work in a clean room environment around chemicals.

Kanto Corporation is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician III for our high purity chemical manufacturing facility. The Facilities Maintenance Technician III works with other maintenance technicians and the engineering team to maintain, repair, and upgrade all plant equipment and facilities - machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems. Ensures that the equipment and systems are working properly, reliably, and efficiently while adhering to Kanto's Operating Priorities of Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

What You'll Do
  • Performs all routine preventive maintenance (PM) orders as assigned and health checks on facility equipment, including water and wastewater treatment, scrubbers, HVAC, wiring, air compressors, boilers, nitrogen system, powered rigging equipment, etc. This includes preparation of preventative maintenance reports and recordkeeping, performing periodic checks of equipment performance and efficiency, conducting trend analysis of key operational indicators to determine optimum operation of systems and equipment, and troubleshooting equipment failures. Works with and oversees outside contractors as required.
  • Works with controls systems, troubleshooting, and correcting the issue causing the process to be down.
  • Uses the plants CMMS system to track and complete work assignments. Makes recommendations on ways to improve preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Works with Production and Process groups to coordinate work activities and minimize impacts to production. Work includes opening / closing of various valves and overall operations of equipment that impacts production and the facility systems.
  • Follows all applicable company and customer safety requirements, participates in the company safety committee and supports emergency responses.
  • Participates in annual maintenance assignments.
  • Requires occasional work in a clean room environment and around chemicals.
What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AA as Electrical or Maintenance Technician or certification training from a college or technical school (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 10+ years of experience working as a facilities technician.
  • Advanced pipe fitting and carpentry skills and /or electrical skills.
  • Must have experience using basic hand and power tools and working with limited supervision.
  • Must acquire or be certified as a Hazardous Materials Technician as per 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii), and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirator, as required.
  • Experience with ultrapure water and high purity chemical systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and read and interpret various documents.
  • Strong mathematical skills and reasoning ability.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for long periods and work in industrial environments.
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) preferred.
