Position Summary
Areas of Focus: West of Boston/ Newton
The Facilities Technician performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and compliant with safety regulations. This role supports a portfolio of 20–30 locations, providing hands-on service for day-to-day upkeep and collaborating with Facilities Managers to address operational needs.
Core Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of 20–30 buildings in a defined area through regular visits to each location no less than once per month.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other equipment in collaboration with Facilities Manager.
- Make necessary repairs, including plumbing fixes, electrical repairs, minor carpentry work, painting, picture and board hanging, etc.
- Conduct preventative maintenance (non-HVAC) to ensure facilities and equipment are in good working order.
Inspections and Compliance
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential problems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and other relevant standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Cleaning and General Maintenance
- Responsible for ensuring cleaning tasks, such as mopping, vacuuming, and dusting are performed to contracted standards, and performing such tasks when needed.
- Responsible for ensuring roads and grounds at each facility are free of trash and other refuse.
Customer Service
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with facilities managers, branch staff, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment and systems, such as changing belts and filters on HVAC.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.

- Willing and able to physically respond to after-hours on-call issues, in rotation with peers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environments, including heights and outdoors.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance within a multi-building portfolio.
- Some vocational training or experience in a related field is required.
