Job summary

Opengate is seeking a full-time maintenance worker in Somers, NY to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs across building systems. The role requires a high school diploma and candidates with relevant trade experience are preferred.

Responsibilities include drywall and painting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and operating tools. A valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50+ pounds, and teamwork are required for success.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of three years of experience of trade-related employment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be familiar with all aspects of general building and property maintenance, related to routine maintenance tasks.
• Must be able to produce a quality finish with drywall repairs and painting.
• Ability to safely work with handheld power tools.
• Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including health and safety inspections and report findings to supervisors for follow up/ correction/ repair.
• Perform routine maintenance of drywall, doors, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Perform grounds maintenance, including snow/ice removal, lawn maintenance, weeding, shrub maintenance and pruning, outdoor furniture maintenance and pressure washing.
• Drive agency vehicles to pick up and deliver maintenance supplies as necessary.
• Drive agency vehicles to deliver supplies to residences and programs as needed.
• Move trash, rubbish and/or garbage on a daily basis.
• Disinfecting/ sanitizing Opengate Facilities as needed.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment.
• Rotating on- call responsibilities including nights and weekends.
• Support the Fleet Operations Assistant as requested.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment throughout Opengate.
• Report issues/conditions which require attention to supervisor.
• Follow federal, state, and local governmental regulatory guidelines pertaining to a safe, healthy, and clean work environment, reporting health and safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program along Warren Street.
• Other related duties as assigned.
