Tom Green County is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Technician II to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems across county facilities.
The role requires reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, and standing up to outdoor conditions. A Texas Class C driver’s license is preferred.

Under general supervision, performs skilled building maintenance work which may include plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and equipment repair.
This classification is distinguished from Facilities Maintenance Technician I by criteria such as complexity/diversity of work performed, and knowledge and skills required in the position.
Knowledge of advanced building maintenance practices and procedures; knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; knowledge of appliance repair.
Ability to troubleshoot building and building systems problems and make required repairs; ability to independently perform HVAC maintenance and repair; ability to read and understand gauges, instructions, blueprints, specifications, and wiring diagrams; ability to perform mathematical calculations required in the work; ability to understand and follow instructions and work in an independent manner; ability to tolerate outdoor working conditions, including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and high noise levels; ability to maintain required licenses and a good driving record.
Skill in the use of hand and power tools; skill in oral communication and interpersonal relations.
Works in and outdoors and is subjected to hot and cold temperatures, dust, dirt, fumes, high noise levels; prolonged periods of walking, standing, carrying, bending, and reaching; periodic lifting up to 60 lbs; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required.
