Job summary

SugarCreek Packing Co. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I at our Cambridge City, Indiana site to perform regular facility maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting machinery, following LOTO procedures, keeping maintenance records, and coordinating with Production and Maintenance Management on major repairs. Some travel between plants may be required.

Qualifications

  • General facility maintenance and repair responsibilities.
  • Multi-craft maintenance experience preferred.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and LOTO procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and manual repairs on facility premises (e.g. change light bulbs, maintain exterior property, perform snow removal, etc.)
  • Handle minor plumbing issues like unclogging drains, repairing leaky faucets, and addressing minor plumbing leaks.
  • Address minor carpentry issues like fixing loose door handles or repairing small holes in walls.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and corrective maintenance related to equipment, including inspecting, operating, or testing machinery or equipment to diagnose mechanical malfunctions.
  • Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in repair of machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, or electronic testing devices.
  • Review and complete work orders timely, conducting necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times and ensure all Maintenance Personnel are following LOTO procedures at all times.
  • Maintain proper records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform continuous education and training in related multi-craft skills.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with all departments and sustain constant communication with Plant Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the department and keep all work areas clean.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

DESCRIPTION sUMMARY

Perform regular facility maintenance and complete repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment. Complete other tasks such as general landscaping, fixing machinery, plumbing, heating, and inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards are being met. Coordinate with Production and Maintenance Management on identifying, planning, and scheduling major repairs.

Other requirements

No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with electrical maintenance positions, including mostly sitting with some standing/walking required. Other light physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing less than 50lbs may be required as needed. Some travel may be required in between plants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Some travel to other locations is required.

Most work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Some work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.
