Job description

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is seeking an experienced full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician I to serve at our two campuses in Milwaukee. This position performs repair and general maintenance of facilities grounds and equipment to provide a clean orderly and safe environment for staff guests students and visitors. The primary location for this position is our Central Campus but this position will work at both locations as needed.

Hiring Range : $25.42-$26.83 / hour based on experience

WORK SCHEDULE : Full-time 1st shift Monday-Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform repair or general maintenance work including minor plumbing electrical carpentry masonry and painting
  • Prioritize and respond to maintenance requests in a timely professional manner
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in proactively identifying and assessing common building-related issues
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and other tasks as directed

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five or more years previous building maintenance or related experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of common building systems structures and appliances
  • Proven experience in operating a variety of equipment hand tools and power tools
  • Must be able to handle physical workload capable of continuously standing walking stair climbing reaching handling and gripping without difficulty repetitive movement of both hands and arms as well as frequent lifting and moving items with a maximum weight of 80 lbs. a short distance and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff contractors students visitors and peers
  • Ability to help direct other maintenance and custodial staff as needed
  • Must have a valid drivers license with good driving record
  • Reliability dependability and punctuality are expected
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment : civil respectful polite and responsive
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
