Job summary

NHC Place at the Trace in Nashville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Supervisor in keeping the facility safe and well-maintained for patients, staff and visitors. The role requires hands-on experience in painting, drywall, electrical and plumbing, plus the ability to lift up to 65 pounds and work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Communication skills and active listening required.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Experience in painting and drywall.
• Experience with electrical and plumbing.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 65 pounds.
• Frequent walking or standing required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rounds to check maintenance zones for safety and welfare.
• Check air conditioning and heating units in roof and rooms.
• Inspect laundry equipment including washers and dryers.
• Make daily repairs as needed.
• Check water and boiler temperatures, cooking equipment, alarms and outlets.
• Inspect storage and utility rooms for upkeep and safety.
• Coordinate maintenance with other departments to avoid disruption.
• Be on call for emergencies.
• Run errands and move heavy furniture as directed.
• Care, maintenance and repair of institutional property and grounds.
• Regular inspections for safety compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
