Job summary

Eaton Corporation’s ES GEIS BLD division seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift at the Pinckneyville, IL facility. Core hours are 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., with overtime as needed.

You will perform general maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and facility systems, and support safety and environmental programs. The role requires reading schematics, operating forklifts, and using CMMS to document work orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year facilities and mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of one year of powered industrial truck or forklift operator experience.
• Overtime flexibility and ability to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform general facility maintenance and repair activities, including painting, drywall, plumbing, lighting, roofing, flooring, and other building repairs.
• Maintain facility grounds, including snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, and designated areas.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, drawings, and documentation.
• Operate powered industrial trucks, cranes, hoists, and related equipment when trained and authorized.
• Utilize CMMS to complete work orders, document repairs, and provide feedback.

Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician - 2nd shift at our Pinckneyville, IL facility! The core hours are Monday - Friday, 3:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Overtime may exceed these hours or be mandatory at times.

The hourly rate for this position is $28.07 - $35.09 per hour, based on experience, plus a $0.40 shift differential.

What you’ll do:

• Perform general facility maintenance and repair activities, including painting, drywall, plumbing, lighting, roofing, flooring, parking lots, and other building-related repairs.
• Maintain facility grounds, including snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, fire exits, and other designated areas.
• Support facility housekeeping efforts and maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Perform facility-related projects and preventive maintenance activities as assigned.
• Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and facility support systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Assist with motor controls, starters, electrical components, and facility utility systems as qualified.
• Perform welding, fabrication, rigging, and metal repair work to maintain equipment and facility assets.
• Manage and maintain plant oil, fluid, recycling, and waste handling programs in accordance with environmental and company requirements.
• Support hazardous-waste handling and environmental compliance activities in accordance with assigned responsibilities, required training, and approved procedures.
• Monitor, maintain, and service graphite tanks, scale hoppers, and related process support systems.
• Assist with hazardous waste handling and environmental compliance activities as required.
• Operate powered industrial trucks, cranes, hoists, and related equipment when trained, qualified, and authorized by the company.
• Perform rigging and lifting operations in accordance with established safety requirements.
• Support plant-wide maintenance projects, equipment installations, shutdown activities, and capital improvement projects.
• Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete work orders, document repairs, record maintenance activities, and provide feedback.
• Complete requisitions and facilitate procurement of maintenance parts, materials, and supplies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, efficiency, and productivity.
• Support troubleshooting teams and root cause investigations to resolve manufacturing and facility-related issues.
• Comply with all Eaton Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Follow all applicable OSHA, environmental, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and machine safety requirements.
• Participate in required training and maintain certifications necessary for assigned duties.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and effective communication with employees, contractors, and management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of ONE(1) year of facilities and mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of ONE(1) year of powered industrial truck or forklift operating experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance, plant utilities, industrial services, or a related field
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system
• Working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems
• Welding, fabrication, rigging, or metalworking experience
• Experience supporting recycling, waste-handling, or environmental-compliance activities
• Technical certificate or related training in industrial or mechanical maintenance

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, vibration, moving equipment, and other industrial conditions.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety requirements.
• Ability to distinguish colors, read gauges, inspection instruments, and maintenance documentation as required for assigned duties.
