Fleet Laboratories is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician. This position will understand role responsibilities and support facility operations through the experienced, knowledgeable application of higher-level facility maintenance skills.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical, compressed air, HVAC-R, plumbing, and other physical plant utilities, equipment, and systems.
• Execute assigned preventive maintenance and corrective work orders promptly and professionally.
• Perform scheduled inspections of facilities and equipment such as fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, ladders, storm drains, and roofs.
• Install electrical conduit, boxes, disconnects, breakers, lighting fixtures, etc., and make appropriate wire terminations.
• Size and install new electrical services.
• Work with 480/277 and 208/120 VAC, three-phase power, and related equipment.
• Recommend safety, efficiency, and process improvements.
• Utilize test instruments to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, or HVAC-R systems for root causes.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose medium-pressure steam boiler or system issues.
• Fit and support various types of pipe and tubing, including black iron, copper, and stainless steel.
• Use electrical test instruments to diagnose electrical problems accurately.
• Maintain safe, organized work areas and electrical/mechanical rooms.
• Safety: Be a safety leader, follow all safety policies, and report hazards or near-misses immediately.
• Attendance and Dependability: Be reliable, report on time, and work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Participate in on-call rotations.
• Conduct: Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and support company goals. Maintain positive relationships and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Communication: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with supervisors and team members about issues and repairs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of electricity, electrical safety, Ohm’s Law, AC/DC circuits, controls, three-phase power, NEC, and NFPA-70E Arc Flash.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools like multimeters and clamp ammeters.
• Basic familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, networks, building automation controls.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and specifications.
• Basic understanding of HVAC-R principles and refrigerant handling.
• Knowledge of the International Mechanical Code.
• Ability to read measuring devices such as rulers, tape measures, and calipers.
• Skillful use of hand and power tools safely.
