Armstrong has an opening for a Facilities Maintenance Technician on first shift. Armstrong Rapid Manufacturing has been in business for over 50 years in the East Syracuse NY area. Armstrong specializes in both prototyped and low volume production machined castings. Salary Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Summary/Objective

The role involves semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance, repair tasks, performed indoors or outdoors, sometimes under adverse conditions. Work may span multiple buildings. Skilled trade knowledge is not required as this position does not involve skilled techniques. Maintains a clean working environment for the facility(ies).

Job Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled building maintenance and repair such as changing ballasts, light bulbs, repairing toilets, patching sheetrock and tiles, and basic painting.
• Performs manual labor related to building and grounds maintenance and repair.
• Paints surfaces, attaches baseboard edging, applies floor coatings, performs basic framing and plumbing tasks, and changes filters as needed.
• Performs exterior building maintenance and cleaning, including power washing, snow and ice removal, and salting during winter.
• Participates in grounds maintenance activities like weed removal.
• Conducts routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Documents maintenance activities and notifies management of deficiencies.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments.
• Maintains supply rooms and stocks necessary supplies.
• Follows all health and safety regulations and safety policies.
• Completes required reports and records, including inspections and checklists.
• Supports ISO quality management processes and the Syteline MIS system.
• Performs other tasks as directed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of experience in building maintenance or repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic tools.
• Ability to understand and interpret work orders and instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Independent with good time management skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, reach, stoop, push, and lift up to 50 pounds, and work in adverse weather conditions, including winter snow.
