Job summary

MASABA INC in Vermillion, SD is seeking a Maintenance Technician to manage facility repairs, perform major and minor building maintenance, and uphold a clean, safe environment. You will document work and assist with safety checks on equipment throughout the shift.

Requires 2–3 years electrical/HVAC/plumbing/mechanical experience or equivalent training, ability to use hand and power tools, and physical stamina to stand/work up to 12 hours. A valid driver’s license and English fluency are required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years electrical, HVAC, plumbing and mechanical experience or a combination of formal training and hands-on experience.
• Flexible, adaptable and works well within a team environment.
• Self-motivated, self-driven.
• Knows how to use hand tools and power tools.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work standing on hard surface (e.g. concrete) for up to 12 hours per day in hot or cold environment.
• Good hand and eye coordination.
• Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch or stoop to perform various functions of this position.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms and able to lift &/or move 50 pounds.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to read and speak English.
• Ability to understand basic math and measurements.
• Additional hours may be required outside of normal business hours or as set forth by the demands of the position; ability to work one weekend day per month for preventative maintenance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing facility repairs and maintenance (performing major and minor repairs of all buildings).
• Ensures a clean and safe environment and can perform routine safety checks on equipment, devices and tools.
• Performs routine/preventative maintenance on facility equipment (compressors, blast, paint, scales, cranes, FLT’s, Loaders, etc.).
• Documenting/tracking of maintenance on facility equipment (compressors, loaders, forklifts, etc.).
• Ability to perform minor electrical repairs and maintenance on building and equipment.
• Ability to perform HVAC and plumbing repairs and maintenance on building and equipment.
